Diamond Jubilee

We are nearing the Queen's Diamond Jubilee and have some exciting events coming up for this. We will be adding more details for the craft evenings very soon. Here's a sneaky preview of one of the items we will be making at the events....

Nappy Cakes!

2012 seems to be the year for babies! After holding a baby shower for my friend Emma, where she received a nappy cake before the birth of her daughter Lilly, I have been inspired!
I have spent the afternoon making a nappy cake for my friend Sam's baby shower this week who is expecting a little boy.

And here's what it looks like under all those baby gifts! 44 nappies (6-13lbs)

The 3 tier cake contains 44 nappies rolled up to produce the 'cake' layers. The bottom layer is wrapped in a blue cellular cotton blanket and the top 2 layers are wrapped in baby blue muslin cloths. Decoration includes an elephant baby comforter, 3 pairs of socks, baby booties and 2 tiny baby hats. Finished off with blue ribbon on each layer and 3D baby boy craft decorations. I think these nappy cakes look fantastic and are a great, unusual gift to receive for a baby shower or baby birth present. And you won't want to take it apart!

Retro Aprons!

I have been busy lately creating a range of retro style aprons. These orange floral half aprons have a lime green contrast waist band and ties and were made for Gwdihw Bar in Cardiff for their girls to wear during the day. The owl logo has been embroidered on one of the pockets of the full skirt.

These retro 50's diner style aprons have been created for The Happy Cupcake Kitchen and will soon contain their logo.

They will be available to purchase through Crafty Cakes and The Happy Cupcake Kitchen very soon! We are excited for the launch!

Easter Craft Evening

Sunday saw the first of our Easter craft evenings at Cafe Brava in Pontcanna. We had a full house of crafters to make their own personalised easter bunting using flowers, bunnies, chicks and eggs.

There were also Easter nests available for busy crafters!

It was great to see such a variety in designs, some crafters personalising the bunting for their rooms. Others stuck with the Easter theme, but we ended up with 16 unique garlands :)

As always Crafty Cakes produce was available for purchase and for customers to place orders for bespoke items.
